what she means: if as a lad gaston ate four dozen eggs every morning to help him get large and now that he’s grown he eats five dozen eggs, then gaston must have eaten approximately 499,326 eggs because assuming one defines one’s lad years as age 5-18, but with regard to this problem, no child from age 5 to about 11 can eat 48 eggs so let’s assume his egg-eating lad years to ages 12-18, that means for 6 years of his life (assume 365 days in a year because leap years were not invented at that time yet), he ate those 48 eggs everyday during those 6 years for a total of 105,120 eggs eaten as a lad. but remember, he’s grown now, so he eats five dozen eggs every morning. assuming his age is 36 (according to the 2017 version of Beauty and the Beast), that means he’s eaten 60 eggs a day for the more recent 18 years of his life (because he started at 18 and is continuing to do so at age 36). that means from the day he was no longer a lad to present-day, gaston has eaten an additional 394,200 eggs to the 105,120 he’d eaten during his time as a lad, totaling to 499,320 eggs. but assuming he’d already eaten his five dozen for breakfast the day he chose to sing the song about himself in the bar, he then ate 6 extra eggs that night during his musical number for a grand total of 499,326 eggs eaten by gaston. (give or take several dozen because we don’t know when he started eating eggs and if he did it every day as a boy under the age of 11, and he’d have to have worked up to eating the four dozen he was able to eat as a lad). that being said, it is highly likely gaston ate over half a million eggs in his lifetime, and as an added bonus, assuming 72 calories per egg, he’s consumed well over 35,951,472 calories from eggs alone in his life.
